Eastern £2.3 million awarded - 19 bids approved

 Peterborough CC: Herlington Centre & Car Park

.£26,000 (£290 other funding) Coverage of council owned local centre comprising residential properties and various commercial premises. Supported by previous experience in use of CCTV in the area.

 

 Lowestoft Multi-Storey Car Parks

The bid is for 15 CCTV cameras in 2 multi-storey car parks. Secured Car Park Status is being pursued and the partnership anticipate a good impact on vehicle crime. £193,840 awarded.

 

 Yarmouth Town Centre/Marine Parade

The bid is for 25 cameras to cover mainly retail catering, entertainment complexes and the marine parade. There are also extensive car and bus facilities. The scheme is intended to connect to the central control room using fibre optic links. Problems include vandalism, criminal damage, vehicle crime and drugs related offences. £462,420 awarded.

 

 South Woodham Ferrers Town Centre

Provision of 7 cameras to combat and deter nuisance, anti social behaviour and criminal damage in the town centre. The system will be linked to and monitored at the Chelmsford CCTV Control Room. £63,404 awarded (£25,950 from other sources).

 

 Eastfield, Peterborough

This bid is for the provision of 3 cameras covering 216 households in local authority ownership. This scheme will supplement existing cameras to extend coverage to the whole of the Eastfield area. Main crime problems have been identified as burglary, vehicle crime and criminal damage. £62,725 awarded (£300 from other sources).

 

 A Safer St Edmundsbury, Bury St Edmunds/Haverhill

This bid is for 2 mobile cameras to cover crime 'hot spots' together with 3 fixed cameras to cover car parks and a young persons residential unit and will extend the and enhance the existing system. It is anticipated that the scheme will tackle criminal damage, violent crime, burglary and vehicle crime. £68,450 awarded (£3,000 from other sources).
