 Amber Valley BC: Amber Valley Town Centres CCTV Extension.

£126,840 (£20,000 other funding) Extension to schemes in Alfreton, Belper, Heaton and Ripley. Main crime problems are car crime, vandalism and assaults. Proposal will support applications for Secured Car Park Status and complement environmental and lighting improvements.

 Boston BC: Boston Community Safety Partnership - CCTV Crime Reduction.

£249,719 (£189,220 other funding) Proposal to extend current town centre system and provide new systems covering a housing estate and a mobile system for rural areas. High levels of crime in town centre/residential areas with main areas of concern relating to vehicle crime, assaults and burglaries. System in rural area would be targeted at hot spots but would also go some way to addressing high level of fear of crime that exists.

.£76,000 (£12,600 from other sources) Residential scheme covering 130 flats - LA owned. Crimes in the area include violence, auto crime, burglary and drug misuse. There is also a high fear of crime

 Northampton BC: Town Centre Car Parks.

£80,000 (£22,000 other funding) Coverage of 3 car parks which account for 50% of car crime in town centre car parks. Proposal will also support aim of achieving Secured Car Park Status at each. High crime figures with anticipated target reduction of 70%.

 Leicester City Council: Community Safety Bid

This bid is to install 18 fixed cameras and 6 mobile systems in high crime neighbourhoods (North Braunstone, Beaumont Leys, Mowmacre and Saffron Lane) and residential hotspots. Over 29,000 households will be covered with primary usage in tackling burglary, violent crime, auto crime and anti-social behaviour

The scheme will complement current initiatives including SRB, Health and Education Action Zones, New Deal and local authority capital receipts. The bid builds on lessons learnt from an existing CCTV scheme in Northfields. £832,600 awarded (£78,000 other funding).

Mobile & fixed CCTV

 Kettering Town Centre Car Parks

Provision of 5 cameras covering four car parks serving the town centre. As well as impacting on crime it is anticipated that feelings of increased safety will encourage greater use of town centre facilities. The cameras will also play a key role in the achievement of Secured Car Park Status in these car parks. £56,400 awarded.

 

 Southwell Town Centre CCTV System

This bid is for 10 cameras in a village environment. The target area includes coverage of over 200 households and car parking facilities used by visitors to the Cathedral and leisure centre. Main problems are vehicle crime and disorder. The scheme will also support a bid for secure car park status. £183,280 awarded.

 10 cameras for 200 households = 1:20 are these villagers really 60 times as likely to commit/suffer from crime as the Leicester City Council bid above ?

 Newark Riverside Car Park

Installation of 4 cameras to cover a 200 space car park. The site is relatively isolated with no natural surveillance available and has a high rate of use. This scheme will ensure that all car parks in Newark are covered by CCTV. It is also intended that an application will be made for Secured Car Park Status. The aim of the scheme is to prevent criminal activity before the area gains an undesirable reputation. £61,760 awarded.

 Mansfield Town Centre

Provision of 19 cameras covering 2000 partking spaces and 470 retail outlets. This is an extension to an existing 16 camera scheme which has been in operation in the town centre since January 1997. The main problems to be targeted are vehicle crime and assaults. The local authority is committed to achieving Secured Car Park Status for all its car parks and this proposal will assist in this aim. £414,500 awarded (£3,800 from other sources).
