London - near Oxford Street and Charing Cross Road - N.B. the Infra Red spotlamp to see in the dark- not needed by the latest cameras

There are 16 of these high tech cameras mountings along Oxford Street, controlled from Marylebone police station.

The system is meant to have cost over £500,000 to install. N.B. the total absence of any warning signs.

The mountings bear a similarity to the fictional Martian spaceships in the "War of the Worlds" film and TV series.
