Draft ID Card Bill

This United Kingdom based Weblog concentrates on the Draft ID Card Bill published by the Home Office on the 26th April 2004.

This Blog is a vehicle to discuss the devilish detail of the full text of the Draft ID Card Bill itself, which is deeply flawed and repressive.

If this Bill gets passed, it will lead to a full Bill in the Autumn of 2004, which will effectively create a Compulsary Biometric National Identity Register and associated Biometric Smart Card based ID Card.

Please lobby your Member of Parliament to vote against this Draft ID Card Bill !

The Home Office are held an official consultation on the Draft ID Card Bill, for which the closed om 20 July 2004.

The opposition to this Bill, especially that led by the NO2ID umbrella campaign will continue in preparation for the full ID Card Bill which is promised in the Queen's Speech on the 26th November 2004, although whether or not the actual Bill will be debated before the anticipated General Election in May 2005 is, as yet, uknown.
