Identity Cards Bill (2004)

Identity Cards Bill 2004
N.B. the May 2005 re-introduced Bill is almost the same.
We are working on an updated blog for this.

About this Blog

This United Kingdom based blog has been spawned from Spy Blog, and is meant to provide a place to analyse and to comment on, clause by clause, the controversial Identity Card Bill currently going through Parliament.

We have to do this, because our politicians in Parliament seem to be incapable of reading the detail, let alone understanding the implications of the Government's attempts at technological magic fixes to social problems.

Identity Cards Bill debates in Parliament

House of Commons Standing Committee B - currently in progress. Debate has been guillotined to finish this Thursday 27th January 2005.

The next stage will be Report.

The Third Reading in the Commons is limited to a single day's debate, and then the Bill gets passed on to the House of Lords.
